Andre Villas-Boas has rubbished suggestions that he is about to be confirmed as the new manager of Tottenham Hotspur.

Villas-Boas has been out of work since being sacked by Chelsea in March, and after being linked with the Liverpool job earlier in the summer it was reported that talks with Spurs were at an advanced stage.

The Portuguese remains the 1/3 favourite to succeed Harry Redknapp at White Hart Lane, but comments he has made to newspaper O Jogo suggest the bookies are wide of the mark.

"There is nothing, it is all lies," the 34-year-old said.

Current France coach Laurent Blanc is the only other candidate anywhere in the betting at 6/1 with USA coach Jurgen Klinsmann, Everton boss David Moyes and ex-England chief Fabio Capello all 14/1.
