Borini wants to become 'focal point' for Liverpool

New Liverpool signing Fabio Borini wants to become "the focal point" of Brendan Rodgers' side and help put an end to recent goalscoring problems at Anfield.

Liverpool scored 47 times in the Premier League last season - compared to Manchester City's 93 and Manchester United's 89 - and £11 million striker Borini hopes to change all that after arriving on Merseyside following a fantastic season for Roma.

The former Chelsea youngster - who scored 10 goals in 26 appearances for the Serie A side, earning a call-up to the Italian national team for Euro 2012 - is backing himself to deliver in the Premier League.

"I hope to bring goals to Liverpool. I want to bring goals and add value to the team. I want to be a big player here," Borini told the Daily Mirror.

"In Italy I think I did well with Roma, but it is a little bit different being there as a young player because you're not seen as a big star. You always have to do the hardest thing to get noticed.

"But I want to be a focal point of the team at some stage of my career. Maybe it could be now. I don't want to move every season. I want to stay in this team for many years and be an important part of the team.

"I don't know if it is a good thing or a bad thing, but I have always wanted everything the quickest way possible - I have the ambition to get there quickly, like when I first came to England with Chelsea. It wasn't a hard decision - it only took five seconds to decide. When I want something, I want it straight away. That is the way I take it."

Borini became famous for his 'assassin' celebration in Italy, and is hoping to have plenty of opportunities to use it in England.

"In Italy, we say when one person wants something so much it is like he has a knife between his teeth - like a warrior who never gives up," Borini said.

"The celebration is something I did with my friends when I was in the youth team at Chelsea. After that, I kept doing it. I did it the first time I scored at Swansea and everyone liked it. It was the same at Roma.

"In Italy, a friend of mine said he was watching his kids' game on a Sunday morning and they started doing my celebration."
