Bale: Adam not worth my breath
Tottenham midfielder Gareth Bale wants to draw a line under his spat with Liverpool's Charlie Adam - but could not resist one last dig.
Bale and Adam have been at loggerheads in recent days after a robust tackle from the latter in Saturday's pre-season friendly forced the Wales international to leave the stadium on crutches with an ankle problem.
Bale subsequently branded his rival a "coward", while Adam's agent hit back at "outrageous" comments from the 23-year-old Spurs man.
A goalscoring appearance for Bale in Spurs' pre-season victory over New York Red Bulls on Wednesday suggested he was over his fitness troubles - but afterwards he took another swipe at Adam.
"There's been a lot of stuff in the media but I'm not paying too much attention to that, I just want to concentrate on my fitness," Bale told Sky Sports News. "The most important thing for me is to get match fit.
"I only trained this morning. I've had ice on it 24/7. I wanted to be fit for this game, I know there's not too many games left in pre-season and I wanted to get some minutes on the pitch. I was a bit concerned before the game, but then again I wanted to get my fitness up quicker and get ready for the Premier League season.
"I don't hold a grudge, I'm just not going to comment: people like that are not worth commenting on. He knows he did wrong in himself, so we'll just leave him to what he does."
