Tottenham Hotspur boss Andre Villas-Boas after an injury-time equaliser forced his team to settle for a 1-1 draw with West Brom: "The market can be very frenetic in the last couple of days. We are looking to strengthen our squad a bit further so we will try to do the deals we can do."

After watching his Newcastle side lose 2-0 at Chelsea, Alan Pardew was asked about the possibility of signing Andy Carroll. He said: "No I don't think so. We might try to bring in a younger player."

David Moyes on Everton's 3-1 win at Aston Villa: "We created quite a few chances before we scored and I was beginning to worry. I'm a bit disappointed we didn't score one or two more.

"I'd like to add to the squad if I could because it is a bit light. But if your squad's light then it gives the youngsters a chance and we are a club that gives youngsters a chance. Six points from two games is a good start, particularly when your first two games are Manchester United and Aston Villa away."

Moyes' opposite number, Paul Lambert: "I know it's a huge job here. We are trying everything to sort it out. For every negative there's a positive and at least we didn't capitulate. Will there be any new signings? We'll have to wait and see what happens over the next few days. It's a really young side and sometimes you need a bit of help."

After his side's 3-0 win over West Ham, Swansea boss Michael Laudrup said that Manchester City target Scott Sinclair had not been in the right frame of mind to play: "Scott and I talked yesterday about a lot of things. Over the last two or three days lots of things have been going on around him. We will see what happens next week. If he leaves we will have to take it from there. I really don't know.''

West Ham manager Sam Allardyce was frustrated after seeing mistakes from James Collins and Jussi Jaaskelainen gift Swansea their first two goals: "Two very poor mistakes by our two most experienced players cost us dearly. Those mistakes were punished by Swansea and that was the difference. On a good solid basis from last week [when they beat Aston Villa], it looked apparent to me we were in complete control and weren't under pressure, but to make those sorts of mistakes...''

Wigan manager Roberto Martinez after his side's 2-0 win at Southampton: "I am delighted, as we knew we were coming in the worst possible moment to play them due to their winning momentum from their achievement to get into the Premier League. They put us under massive pressure early on, and from then on we composed ourselves and slowly grew into the game.

"The strikers live on great finishes and scoring goals. They did huge jobs for the team, and they emptied themselves, and the goals were their reward."

Southampton manager Nigel Adkins: "The Premier League is a relentless division. We had opportunities and didn't take them. You have to be ruthless, or the harsh reality is you will be punished. Goals change games, and 1-0 down with 20 minutes to go, you change your formation to get back into it - that is my responsibility. But the 4-4-2 saw them have far too much of the ball."

Chris Hughton's Norwich drew 1-1 with QPR, and he was unhappy at the decision to award a penalty to the opposition: "I'm quite sure their camp will say something different but it's a soft penalty. [Djibril] Cisse was stretching for the ball and his momentum would have taken him down anyway. I accept [Sebastian Bassong] didn't touch the ball. The double whammy is the pen itself. On the referee's side Bobby Zamora [who scored the rebound] is at least three yards in the box which gives him an advantage."

QPR boss Mark Hughes: "I think it was right. Norwich will think it's soft and I'd probably agree with that but it was definitely contact."
