Everton are weighing up a move for goalkeeper Artur Boruc as manager David Moyes seeks additional cover for Tim Howard.

Boruc, 32, is available to be signed outside the transfer window having been a free agent since leaving Fiorentina at the end of last season.

The Poland international had a trial at Everton's Finch Farm training ground on Sunday, while he has also been linked with QPR, Werder Bremen and Ukrainian side Dnipro.

"I'm fit and available and a little bit surprised to be in this situation following two good seasons in Serie A with Fiorentina," he said recently.

"I was offered an extension with Fiorentina but felt it was the right time for a change and have had several other offers which just didn't feel right at the time.

"I almost signed with QPR before Julio Cesar became available but despite that I am looking forward to my next challenge."

Boruc joined Celtic from Legia Warsaw in 2005 and spent five years with the club, winning three Scottish Premier League titles, before moving to Fiorentina.
