Jagielka won't follow Moyes out of Everton

Phil Jagielka insists he is fully committed to Everton despite manager David Moyes' departure for Manchester United.

Marouane Fellaini and Leighton Baines have both been linked with moves away from Goodison Park to join Moyes at Old Trafford.

Midfielder Fellaini has a £23 million exit clause in his contract that can be activated by a Champions League club, but Everton have made clear they will resist any attempts to lure away left-back Baines.

And central defender Jagielka, recently named club captain after Phil Neville brought an eight-year playing stint at Everton to an end, also intends to stay put.

Asked if he saw his future at Goodison Park, the 30-year-old said: "Yes, definitely.

"I was made captain for next season when David Moyes was in charge.

"We will have to wait and see what happens with the new manager, but hopefully he will keep me in that role and it is something that I am looking forward to doing."

Jagielka, who is set to win his 17th England cap on Wednesday as Republic of Ireland visit Wembley for a friendly, insists he will be able to focus on his international commitments, despite the uncertainty at his club.

"I will be able to put it to the back of the mind, definitely," he said.

"We all knew the situation. It wasn't sprung upon us because we had a couple of games to deal with it towards the end of the season when we knew the manager was leaving.

"I thought as a team and as a club we sorted it really well and gave the manager a great send off. We got over it in the course of those few weeks and I am away with England now so I will look forward to these two games.

"I'm not really thinking about Everton until we report back in July and I hope by then we will have a manager sorted and we will see where it takes us from there."
