Everton target Negredo eyes Sevilla exit

Everton target Alvaro Negredo has revealed he could leave Sevilla this summer, but says a transfer is far from certain.

With club president Jose Maria del Nido having repeatedly talked about having to sell leading players to cut the club's €100 million-plus debts, Negredo, 27, is expected to be put on the market this summer.

The striker is likely to have many suitors with Tottenham, Inter Milan, Atletico Madrid, Fiorentina and West Ham also linked with the €20 million-rated player in the past.

But the Spain international has told AS that an exit to help the Andalucian club raise funds could be possible, though only if all involved agreed on the terms.

"It could happen that the president wants to sell or needs to sell," Negredo said. "If a good offer comes and in the end we are all in agreement [I will leave]. But it could be that I stay to see out my contract."

Negredo, a member of Spain's Euro 2012-winning squad, was left out of the provisional 26-man selection named by Vicente del Bosque on Monday for next month's Confederations Cup in Brazil.

The striker said that the omission had been painful to take but not completely unexpected given Sevilla's poor season.

"I am upset but at the same time it makes you think you must keep working and playing well to be able to get back in," he said. "It has not been a good year for Sevilla and in the end we have not met our objectives. In the end it is about the group, if it goes well for the group it can influence things, but well, the players who are going [to Brazil] deserve to go."

Even as Sevilla have struggled this season, the Vallecas-born hitman has still managed to score 21 La Liga goals. However, he said he has missed out due to the quality of attackers available to Del Bosque.

"Roberto [Soldado] is having a great season, [David] Villa always scores goals when he is with the national team and Fernando [Torres] has ended up scoring goals, important goals," Negredo said. "In the end it is the coach's decision. Villa for the national team does not play as a 'pure' number nine, he plays more on the wing. The only one is Fernando, but Fernando has finished the season very well. I congratulate everyone on the call-up, above all Jesus [Navas]."
