Juventus have told Manchester United that Adnan Januzaj could go the same way as Paul Pogba.

Pogba, who never started a game for United, left Old Trafford for Turin when his contract expired in the summer of 2012 and has gone on to help Juventus win the Scudetto.

And United are yet to agree a new deal with Januzaj, who will be out of contract next summer, while Juve are among the admirers of the 18-year-old, who scored twice on his full debut for the Premier League champions to earn them a 2-1 victory at Sunderland last week.

Juve general manager Beppe Marotta told United they risk losing Januzaj, who has also been linked with Manchester City, and believes the whole situation could easily have been avoided.

"If they fear another case like Pogba's then they are right," Marotta told Tuttosport. "It's difficult to understand how we can reach a stage eight months prior to the contract expiring without seeing a renewal. Januzaj is a player showing big promise. He is a player of great quality."

While United did receive compensation when Pogba left Old Trafford, because he was under 24, it was less than the amount he would likely have commanded had he been under contract.

Patrice Evra expressed his disappointment that Pogba had left United this week.
