Wolverhampton Wanderers have ventured into the transfer market for the first time in January to sign Charleroi's Belgium international midfielder Geoffrey Mujangi Bia.

Mujangi, 20, has signed on loan until the end of the season although Wolves have the option to make the deal permanent should the player impress at Molineux. His debut could come in Saturday's FA Cup tie against Crystal Palace and Mujangi has already been in training with his new team-mates having watched Saturday's defeat to Wigan Athletic.

"We're very pleased to have signed Geoffrey," manager Mick McCarthy said on the club's official website. "He's an attacking midfielder who can play on the right or on the left as well as centrally."

Mujangi has won two caps for Belgium's senior side and his record at Charleroi bears scrutiny with seven goals coming in 48 appearances for the club.

Chief executive Jez Moxey is still looking to bring in new players with Wolves only out of the bottom three on goal difference at present, saying: "This has been a difficult transfer window so far but we hope at least one or maybe two players will follow this signing."
