Valdes nearing comeback at United
Victor Valdes has said he is almost ready to make his comeback from injury as he looks to earn a contract with Manchester United.
Valdes, 32, is currently training with Louis van Gaal's side, who could sign him if he proves his form and fitness following his recovery from a cruciate ligament injury.
The goalkeeper has not played since March, when he was hurt in Barcelona's 3-0 win over Celta Vigo, forcing him to miss the summer's World Cup with Spain.
Valdes made his Barcelona debut under current United manager Van Gaal, and they linked up again when he came to the Premier League club's Carrington training complex to work on his rehabilitation.

United's under-21 team are not scheduled to play until they visit Southampton in December, but there is the option of arranging a friendly to give Valdes some match practice.
Liverpool also showed an interest in the goalkeeper, but that cooled and United have since arranged to oversee his recovery.
Valdes made 535 appearances for Barcelona, winning six La Liga titles and three Champions League crowns in that time.
Another Spain international goalkeeper, David de Gea, has been an ever-present for United this season and is the current holder of the club's Player of the Year award.
