USA coach Bob Bradley has confirmed his interest in the vacant Aston Villa role, but admitted he is yet to hear from the club.

Bradley guided the American national team to the World Cup, where they emerged winners of Group C, ahead of England, and was linked with the vacancy at Villa Park following Martin O'Neill's resignation.

Caretaker manager Kevin MacDonald is in temporary charge of the team, and guided the team to a 3-0 opening day victory over West Ham, but his chances of keeping the job on a permanent basis were dealt a blow after a 6-0 hammering at the hands of Newcastle on Sunday.

When asked whether he was interested in the vacancy, Bradley told Sky Sports News: "Most definitely. The possibility of working in the Premier League at some point would be a goal for sure.

"There has not been any contact. Everyone knows that for the moment Kevin MacDonald is the caretaker manager and the first step is for a decision to be made with him. He's a good man."

Former England manager Sven Goran Eriksson is also interested in the job, but Bradley is the favourite to take over at Villa Park. And although Bradley admits there has been no contact made, he is keen to engineer a move to Europe.

"There will be some further discussions with US Soccer and we will see where that takes us," he said. "And like so many others, I will continue to see what other opportunities are out there - I feel I have the ability to work in Europe and it's something that I would like to do in my career. I am excited about that possibility - whenever it comes and wherever it comes."
