Portsmouth striker David Nugent has extended his loan deal at Burnley until the end of the season.
Nugent has been on loan at Turf Moor since the start of the season and was due to return to Fratton Park during the January window. However, Portsmouth were keen to keep the England striker off their wage bill given the current poor financial state of the club.
Brian Laws has made no secret of his desire to keep Nugent at Burnley but he was forced to remain patient while Pompey dealt under a transfer embargo. That restriction has now been lifted, allowing the striker to continue building his future away from Fratton Park.
The 24-year-old, who has one international cap, has scored three times in 21 appearances for the Clarets and will be expected to complete a permanent move in the summer.
