Dzeko still set on City move

Edin Dzeko remains firmly on Manchester City's radar and the Wolfsburg striker is reported to have sent a letter to Eastlands officials imploring them to make a move in January.

City are mired in controversy with Carlos Tevez seeking a move away from the club, citing "broken promises" as the reason behind his decision to hand in a transfer request.

Roberto Mancini's side are determined to hang on to Tevez and there is the prospect of him being brought in a partner in January.

The Guardian is claiming that Dzeko penned a letter effectively asking City to make the move happen in the next transfer window. City attempted to sign Dzeko in the summer but talks broke down between the two clubs - leading the forward to express his gratitude for showing interest and urging it to be renewed in January.

Despite keeping pace with the leaders in the Premier League, City have struggled for goals. Of the top eight sides in the division, only Sunderland have hit fewer goals than City's return of 24.

Dzeko, at 6ft 3in, would prove an ideal foil for Tevez should Mancini elect to play a two-pronged attack and the Bosnian has a proven eye for goal.

Wolfsburg have struggled in the past couple of seasons, having won the title in 2009, and City may feel there is a chance of persuading the Bundesliga side to soften their stance after asking for £45 million in the summer.
