Arsenal are working towards an agreement to extend Samir Nasri's contract, but the French midfielder is leaving his options open according to his agent Jean-Pierre Bernes.

Nasri has been in the form of his life for the Gunners this season, emerging as an integral player for Arsene Wenger's side and proving he is capable of sharing Cesc Fabregas' creative burden.

The France playmaker's current deal expires in 2012, but Arsenal are hopeful of tying him down to a new long-term contract to avoid a repeat of Mathieu Flamini's embarassing free transfer departure to AC Milan in 2008.

With interest in Nasri growing and Barcelona rumoured to be interested in a summer raid on the Gunners, Wenger may have to act fast in order to keep him at the club. And the midfielder's agent delivered a cryptic answer when asked about Nasri's future, suggesting that he will be considering all eventualities.

"We're in discussions to extend his contract," Bernes said. "Then we will see afterwards what direction Samir wants to take with his career."
