Ian Holloway admits he "ain't got a clue" whether Liverpool target Charlie Adam will remain at the club beyond the January transfer deadline, after completing the signing of Andy Reid from Sunderland.

Adam has been the subject of strong interest from Liverpool and Aston Villa this month, with Holloway strongly criticising both clubs for the manner of their approaches. But with the transfer window set to close and the Reds still pursuing the playmaker, the Englishman has admitted it is now out of his hands whether or not Adam remains at Bloomfield Road.

"I don't know. I ain't got a clue to be honest," Holloway said. "That's the honest answer. I don't think my chairman really wants to sell him, I don't think he could really name a price because he doesn't want to sell him. If I'm right then Liverpool don't really want to sell Torres either, do they, so I guess it's a battle of wills. I can understand why our boy would want to go there but I don't see the rush.

"I can't persuade Charlie. Charlie is his own man and that's why I like him. He says what's on his mind and that's why I gave him the captain's armband. He does what he feels is right. He knows what my feelings are, and until there is an amount of money that my chairman would actually accept then there is no story.

"We've had some contact [from Liverpool] but my chairman hasn't answered their calls at the moment. I'm sure he will but he's trying to get people in before he deals with something else."

One of those deals has already been completed, with Blackpool bringing in Reid from Sunderland until the end of the season. Holloway believes he has found another bargain with the Republic of Ireland international, and hopes to conclude at least two more deals before the deadline passes.

"I think he [Reid] is perfect for us," Holloway said. "A 'dinky-do' footballer or what have you, it won't take me long to get him going. I think he's gone for £12 million [in total transfer fees] in the past, so that's not a bad take for us.

"That's it so far. There are a few more travelling, the wheels are turning on a few more but I can't really disclose those at the moment because they can change direction very quickly and end up going somewhere else on this crazy day - because everyone wants a bag of carrots, and they might be a bag of carrots, if you know what I mean.

"So we've managed to grab one, thanks Andy that'll do. Let's see what we can do. As far as I'm concerned there are two more definitely travelling down."

Rangers' James Beattie and Zenit St. Petersburg's Sergei Kornilenko are the two names being strongly linked with the club, with acting chairman Karl Oyston - who reiterated that a deal with Liverpool for Adam was "not likely" - confirming negotiations are progressing with both strikers.

"We've spoken to those [two]," Oyston confirmed. "We are working on two or three more now. We've got one having a medical, one or two travelling down. Fingers crossed."
