Liverpool complete Suarez signing

Liverpool have formally completed the signing of Luis Suarez from Ajax for a fee worth upto £22.8 million.

After agreeing a fee for the Uruguay international at the end of last week, Suarez arrived at Melwood over the weekend to undergo a medical and confirm personal terms on a contract that will keep him at the club until 2016.

"Luis Suarez has today completed his transfer from Ajax to Liverpool FC and signed a five-and-a-half-year-deal that will keep him at Anfield until 2016," a club statement confirmed.

Suarez will wear the No. 7 shirt - formally worn by manager Kenny Dalglish - and will now join up with his new team-mates ahead of the club's forthcoming Premier League clash with Stoke City on Wednesday.

Liverpool are also hoping to conclude the signing of Andy Carroll from Newcastle United before the transfer window closes.
