Alex Song fined for spat with Samuel Eto'o
Cameroon's football federation has fined Alex Song for showing "an attitude of contempt" towards international team-mate Samuel Eto'o.
Song fell out with Cameroon captain Eto'o during last summer's World Cup and has not represented the country since but, after a series of poor results, he was included in the squad for the African Nations Cup qualifier against Senegal on June 4.
However, reports emerged that Song had refused to shake hands with Eto'o and, according to thisissport.info, "sat on a seat the captain considered should have been reserved for him".
The Federation Camerounaise de Football has now announced that Song has been fined 1 million Central African francs (£1,355), severely reprimanded and ordered to carry out three days' training with youth players.
The qualifier in Senegal, which Song missed through injury, resulted in a 0-0 draw that all but cost Cameroon their hopes of qualification. Eto'o missed an 87th-minute penalty and apologised to supporters after riots broke out at the Ahmadou Ahidjo stadium.
Eto'o had also faced disciplinary proceedings after he showed coach Javier Clemente a lack of discipline by disputing a substitution during that match, as well as reportedly missing a training session, but he was cleared by the federation.
Tottenham full-back Benoit Assou-Ekotto also received a warning after he missed training sessions. He had cited medical problems but had been deemed fit by the team's medical staff.
