Bianchi combines F1 role with Formula Renault
Jules Bianchi will combine his new role as a Force India test driver with a full race drive in Formula Renault 3.5 with Tech 1 Racing this year.
Bianchi was announced as a Force India reserve earlier this year after spending several seasons in the Ferrari Driver Academy, of which he is still a member. He will get nine Friday morning practice drives as part of his deal with Force India and will now dovetail those duties with a race seat or Tech 1 Racing.
"I am very happy to be driving for Tech 1 Racing in the 2012 Formula Renault 3.5 Series," he said. "This year is very important for my career and, as a young driver, it's crucial to have the opportunity to race in such a competitive environment. I will do my best to help the team to achieve its goals this season. I also would like to thank Scuderia Ferrari and Sahara Force India F1 for allowing me to do so."
Bianchi has been in action for Force India Jerez this week testing the new VJM05, but had a spin on his second morning just minutes after the Tech 1 Racing deal was announced.
