STR7 a step up from STR6 - Ricciardo
Daniel Ricciardo reckons the early signs from this year's Toro Rosso are more promising than last year's car.
Ricciardo has spent the last two days getting to know the Toro Rosso STR7 in his new role as race driver at the team. Last year he tested the STR6 early in its development as part of his reserve driver duties and he is happy that the team has made progress with its latest model.
"First impression was quite good," he said. "Already out of the box it seemed pretty well balanced. I did a few laps with the STR6 this time last year and for me it's an improvement from what I remember. So pretty positive, we'll see how far we can get up the grid this year. I'm not saying we'll be fighting for pole position but I think we've got a good base to work from."
He said the new car was easy to drive which he believes is important to help him and rookie team-mate Jean-Eric Vergne as they get used to life in Formula One.
"It's been quite pleasant and I haven't had any moments that got me into trouble or got me too scared, so generally I'm quite happy with the balance," he added. "It's a good base to work from, front and rear seems to be working well together, it's not changing drastically from entry to exit. So far it looks alright."
