Mark Webber said he and Red Bull got everything they could out of the rain-affected Friday practice sessions ahead of the German Grand Prix.

The British Grand Prix race winner was just 20th fastest in the mostly-dry morning session and then finished ninth in the wet afternoon running. He completed 48 laps in total and said he was pleased with his day's work.

"We can't control the weather," Webber said. "It's tricky for everybody to work out where to put your energy for the optimum set-up time. When the track is moving around this much then every lap the lap times are all over the place and people are very inconsistent with their times. Obviously we've got a few guys with some bent cars today as well, which can happen. In the end we did a lot of laps and got everything we could out of those sessions."

Asked if Red Bull tested any updates on Friday, Webber said: "We tested a few in FP1, nothing massive, but we tested a few that the guys will go through tonight."
