Bottas keen to learn from mistake

Valtteri Bottas admitted that it was his mistake that caused him to crash in first practice from the German Grand Prix but feels it is part of his learning process.

Williams' highly-rated test driver made his first major error in practice when he spun at turn 13 and damaged the rear of the car hitting the tyre barrier. It left Williams with a race against time to get the car repaired for FP2 and Bottas said that he was aware of what he had done wrong and would look to learn from it in the future.

"In the end when we investigated a bit more about my off in practice it was just a combination of different things," Bottas told Sky Sports. "It was my mistake, I just braked a bit too hard, a little bit too much rearwards with the break bias and also going a bit too wide at the corner before on to the Astroturf. So in the end I just need to learn from it, it was my mistake and it should not have happened but it happened. I need to learn from it and not do it again."

Williams was forced to change everything from the engine backwards on the rear of its car following the accident, but the car was ready for Bruno Senna to take part in FP2 and no penalties will be incurred as it was not running a race gearbox.
