A deal has been agreed for the German Grand Prix to be held at the Nurburgring, Bernie Ecclestone has confirmed.

The race has been at the centre of much uncertainty for many months after financial problems put the Nurburgring's ability to host the race in doubt. Ecclestone had maintained that he wanted to try and agree a deal but comments made earlier this week suggested negotiations had broken down.

However, in a statement published by Reuters Ecclestone has now confirmed that a deal has been agreed and the race will take place on July 7.

"I treasure the Nurburgring and its history," Ecclestone said in a statement on Thursday. "In view of its long tradition, I was glad to support choosing the Nurburgring as the venue for the Formula One."

The announcement brings the number of confirmed races in 2013 up to 19, with the vacant slot for a European round on July 21 still yet to be filled.
