Johnny Cecotto Jr has been suspended from Saturday's GP2 sprint race after the stewards penalised him for causing a collision at the start of Friday's feature race.

After a poor start Cecotto misjudged his braking for St Devote, locked up his front tyres and continued into the barriers. Fifteen other cars joined the accident, some irrevocably damaged and others able to return to the grid for the restart 30 minutes later.

After the race the stewards judged that he failed to negotiate turn one and caused a collision, slapping him with a suspension that means he will take no further part in the Monaco Grand Prix weekend. Cecotto had previously been involved in two controversial incidents this season, one in Malaysia when he pulled across on Sam Bird in qualifying and was sent to the back of the grid and another in Spain when he pulled a similar move on Sergio Canamasas and was not penalised.
