Webber expects strong Mercedes

Mark Webber says he doesn't expect Mercedes' challenge to fade during tomorrow's British Grand Prix.

Mercedes locked out the front row for a third time at Silverstone, but has only been able to turn one of its five pole positions this season in to victory. In Barcelona pole-sitter Nico Rosberg finished sixth while Lewis Hamilton dropped out of the points entirely having started second, but when asked if he expected Mercedes to struggle on Sunday Webber replied: "Not really.

"Lewis was pretty sensible in Montreal. The last time they raced on this type of circuit was Barcelona; they got lapped, so I don't think that's going to happen. I think they did pretty well at that test to be fair, they've moved the bar up for themselves a big chunk on Sundays. Anyway, that's the way it went so we're not expecting them to be too slow tomorrow, they'll be OK, but we're going to put pressure on them for sure; both in the stops and in the stints themselves."

Webber said he is pretty pleased with Red Bull's race pace but felt he should have qualified ahead of team-mate Sebastian Vettel after he ended up fourth on the grid.

"The car's going pretty well here. I think we've got a good balance between qualy and race - I think the car's still pretty strong in the grand prix - so I need to go forward from there. I would have liked a better finish to the lap; there was a better time there. I think Nico would have been difficult to get, but I think everybody can talk about that - look at Lewis' time, it's very easy to have big swings in performance."
