Mark Webber has tipped Ferrari's Fernando Alonso for a strong weekend at the Hungarian Grand Prix following Friday practice.

The Red Bulls were the class of the field with Sebastian Vettel leading Webber by 0.044s, but Alonso and Lotus' Romain Grosjean were both within 0.2s of the fastest time. Webber said Red Bull has a fight on its hands ahead of qualifying on Saturday and named Alonso as one to watch.

"It looks pretty tight over one lap," he said. "The Ferraris are not hanging around. Fernando's always been strong here, I had a race with him in F3000 back in 2000 so the old dog's still there. There are some quick guys, we're not resting. We're not going to be leaving the track early tonight, we've still got work to do."

Webber said he came across traffic during his timed laps, but that he still managed to collect a lot of data for the team to analyse.

"We had a bit of traffic, but apart from that it was pretty smooth. You've got to expect some traffic here when everyone's doing their own agenda. We kept our head down, chipped away at our own agenda and we've got a huge amount to get through tonight because the car ran seamlessly. That's a nice bonus in terms of data tonight."
