Lotus set to reveal 2011 plans on Friday
Lotus has scheduled a raft of "exciting announcements" for Friday in Singapore.
According to widespread paddock speculation, the press conference will include confirmation of a technical tie-up with Renault for 2011, and an official change of name from 'Lotus Racing' to the historic 'Team Lotus' .
Indeed, a Lotus-liveried Air Asia plane shown off by Tony Fernandes on Thursday is already emblazoned with a 'Team Lotus' logo and the team's official website is about to be relaunched.
However, the news of the announcements coincides with Group Lotus' (the makers of Lotus road cars and separate from Lotus Racing) decision to work with the GP2 team ART.
Earlier this week it was confirmed that Fernandes will enter a GP2 team for 2011 under the Air Asia name as a junior outfit for his F1 venture. As a result Team Air Asia will be racing against an entirely seperate team under the name of Lotus ART.
The 'Team Lotus' name has been owned by David Hunt since the original team's withdrawal from the sport in 1994.
The 2011 driver line-up is also likely to be on the agenda on Friday, with both Heikki Kovalainen and Jarno Trulli expected to stay at the team.
When asked about the rumours in Singapore on Thursday evening, Kovalainen said: "Let's put it this way and then leave it at that; I know where I want to be."
Fernandes said: "We'll be making a couple of very exciting announcements."
