Eric Boullier praised Romain Grosjean for a "brilliant" drive to fourth place in the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix.

Grosjean's run of three consecutive podiums came to an end at Yas Marina as he finished four seconds behind Mark Webber and just 1.1s behind third-placed Nico Rosberg. However, Boullier was keen to praise Grosjean's performance and said it was a definite continuation of his recent good form.

"It is [an impressive performance] just unfortunately we couldn't get closer to Rosberg to put more pressure on him," Boullier said. "He's had a good race and definitely he drove - again - brilliantly."

Trackside operations director Alan Permane added the progression in Grosjean was becoming clear to see.

"His progress was quite heavily hindered by traffic midway through the race and we didn't quite have the pace to challenge [Nico] Rosberg in the closing stages, so realistically he achieved the best possible result on the day," Permane said. "What's especially pleasing is that he's gone from being labelled a 'first lap nutcase' to consistently gaining positions away from the line and through the opening sequence of corners at each race."
