Grosjean's first lap confidence growing

Romain Grosjean has revealed that his confidence in the opening laps of a race is growing after three races without incident.

Since hitting Mark Webber at turn two in Japan Grosjean has been cautious at the start and avoided incident in the early part of the race. Having previously revealed he would change his approach in the opening few laps it appears his strategy is working, and Grosjean admitted he was gaining in confidence as a result but still needed the opening laps to become more "natural".

"[My confidence] is growing up, and I think this weekend and the last two races of the season I really want to enjoy myself," Grosjean said. "Before the Christmas break I'll go for it, drive the car 100% as you like for qualifying and then don't change anything for Saturday. The first lap or first few laps of the race just being that bit ... let this new experience get a bit more natural to me and then I just need to feel better."

Having been involved in a collision with Sergio Perez during the race in Abu Dhabi for which Perez was penalised, Grosjean says he doesn't feel like he was unfairly scrutinised at any time.

"I've made some mistakes, I admit it, I'm working on it and it's working pretty well at the moment so I'll keep it that way. I don't really care about other things; there is enough to do in the car and with the team and so on to think about extra things. The FIA is doing a good job and it's not like they watch only me ... they watch every case differently and I'm very happy that it goes that way."
