Kevin Magnussen says he feels no frustration about McLaren continuing to keep him in the dark over whether he has a seat for 2015.

The subject of McLaren's driver line-up has been an open question for much of the season, with Magnussen and Jenson Button not confirmed for next year. The team is known to be interested in securing Fernando Alonso for its inaugural year with Honda; a move which would mean one its current drivers leaves the team.

When asked if he felt let down by McLaren putting him in that position during his rookie season", Magnussen said: "They are not doing that to annoy me, they have a reason to. No, because I understand why I've not been told yet. Some things are still not sorted out from their side and if they could let me know, they would.

"I can only just wait and see what happens. I'm not planning anything else, I'm not looking for anything else; I'm planning as if I'm here next year. That's what I'm working for and trying my best to get to."

Since the summer break Magnussen has impressed McLaren with the fighting spirit demonstrated in Spa and Monza. Despite his future remaining a doubt Magnussen feels like there is even more to come this year and beyond.

"I can only say I hope [form continues] I feel like I've learned a lot and improved in many areas. I'm sure I have a lot more potential even from where I am now."
