Sir Jackie Stewart: Lewis not one of the greats yet

Lewis Hamilton says he limited the celebrations of his second world championship to a few sips of cognac - which he did not like the taste of - and watermelon juice.

While the champagne flowed at Mercedes' post-season party as the team celebrated the drivers' and constructors' championship, Hamilton was happy revelling in the feeling of becoming Britain's first multiple champion since Sir Jackie Stewart in Abu Dhabi. The morning after his victory in Abu Dhabi Hamilton, who labelled his second triumph the "greatest day" of his life, was happy to reflect on his achievement without feeling the effects of the night before.

"I feel fresh, I only had one drink last night, which is more than good enough for me," Hamilton said at a Monday press conference. "I don't drink champagne. I had a watermelon juice at dinner, which is my favourite. Then when I was at the party there was some kind of cognac thing, but it didn't taste very nice. So I had a couple of sips and that was it. I knew I had to be up early as well.

"It's definitely an incredible feeling to wake up this morning feeling fresh in my surroundings and with all the different people who have been involved in my career over 21 years. The sun is shining and I feel really blessed."

Hamilton, sat next to Mercedes motorsport boss Toto Wolff at the Monday morning press conference, admits not everyone in the team took his approach to the post-race party.

"When I popped out to the party Toto was all over the place at that point," Hamilton laughed.
