Nico Rosberg insists he is not getting complacent despite another strong start to the season compared to his Mercedes team-mate Michael Schumacher.

Rosberg is currently 14 points ahead of Schumacher in the drivers' standing after outscoring him by 70 points in 2010. There has been speculation that the seven-time champion might quit after a poor performance at Turkey, after which he admitted he is currently missing the "big joy" of F1.

But Rosberg has defended Schumacher, insisting his lead over his team-mate is more delicate than it looks.

"He is and remains the most successful racing driver of all time," the German told Auto Motor und Sport. "It is still very difficult to be faster than him and I must work hard in every session. Everything needs to fit together for me to stay ahead. I'm happy that it has worked well for me against him so far, but I also know that at the next race it may be difficult."

For the Spanish Grand Prix, Mercedes team principal Ross Brawn has promised "some aerodynamic developments that should bring us a step in performance." After two fifth place finishes in a row, Rosberg reckons the updates will take him one step close to the podium.

"Most teams are bringing new things, but I think ours could be better than the others to bring us a little closer to the top."
