Mercedes carried out a private test using its new W03 car at Barcelona's Circuit de Catalunya on Sunday.

The team launches its new car officially on Tuesday morning ahead of the first day of the second test in Barcelona. Having run the 2011 car for only three days in Jerez, however, Mercedes earned itself a full test day in private, and was able to run the W03 on the 2012 tyres away from the media or the potential disruption of other cars on track.

Michael Schumacher and Nico Rosberg both shared driving duties in Barcelona, with Schumacher in the car in the morning and Rosberg in the afternoon. Between them they completed over 200km to add to the 100km clocked up during a filming day at Silverstone last week, helping the team to regain some of the track time lost by delaying the launch of the new car.

There is no track action in Barcelona on Monday, with the venue hosting the second four-day test from Tuesday and the final pre-season test from March 1-4.
