Rosberg eyes strong home showing
Nico Rosberg is hoping to deliver a strong performance in the German Grand Prix as he expects Hockenheim to suit Mercedes.
Coming off the back of a disappointing grand prix at Silverstone - where he finished down in 15th place having failed to make the top ten in qualifying - Rosberg is hoping for better from his home race. He believes that the circuit characteristics will suit the W03 more than Silverstone did, and as a result is confident of securing a strong result.
"I will be pushing really hard to perform well in front of our fans in the Mercedes Grandstand, so we can hopefully celebrate a good result together," Rosberg said. "I think our car should suit this track much better than Silverstone. Hockenheim has long straights and short corners, which will be good for the Silver Arrow."
Team principal Ross Brawn said that he wants the team to be more consistent, and hopes some new upgrades could help Mercedes run at the front more often.
"Our performance has been up and down recently, ranging from podiums to lower points finishes, and we need to work hard to improve our level of consistency and ability to challenge at the front of the field," Brawn said. "The Hockenheim layout should be more suited to the F1 W03 than the high-speed Silverstone layout, and we are bringing some further improvements to the car which should help our performance."
