Sergio Perez says Kimi Raikkonen was to blame for the clash between the pair during the Monaco Grand Prix.

Perez was attempting to overtake in to the Nouvelle Chicane but Raikkonen tried to cover the inside line and Perez's McLaren made contact with both Raikkonen and the barrier on the inside. Having retired from the race, Perez said his earlier overtakes at the same corner showed Raikkonen was at fault, but stressed the contact wasn't the cause of his retirement.

"I think Kimi did not give me any room at all," Perez said. "I touched the wall on the entry to the corner and basically I had no room for that. It was really a big shame. I overtook Button and Fernando there, Jenson overtook me there, so at the end of the day you have to give a little bit of space. We know Monaco is very difficult, but the main thing for us was the overheating with the brakes so we have to analyse what happened there."

With Perez on for a fifth-place finish before his retirement, he admitted he was deflated to miss out on substantial points.

"I'm very disappointed. I'm extremely disappointed, I was doing my very best. When you retire with five or six laps to go it is very disappointing, especially when you are doing such a race; risking a lot and giving everything for the team, it's disappointing."
