HRT team principal Colin Kolles has ruled out making a protest against the use of off-throttle blown diffusers at this weekend's Monaco Grand Prix.

The FIA had signalled its intention to ban the practice of using exhaust gases off-throttle to blow diffusers ahead of the Spanish Grand Prix, but subsequently delayed the ban after teams said it was a complex issue to resolve. Kolles' HRT team, however, delayed development of its version because it could not financially afford to implement the system for it to be banned in the near future.

As a result of the FIA delay, Kolles said he felt that the system was illegal and called on the governing body to ban it immediately after the race in Barcelona. Speaking to the BBC at the time Kolles said: "I think that if this is not going to be stopped before Monaco we have no other choice than to make a protest."

Having written to the FIA asking for a ban, Kolles told Autosport that he had received a reply and was willing to wait until the issue is discussed further at the Technical Working Group meeting on June 16 as initially planned.

"I can rule it out now. We have been asked [by the FIA] to be on stand-by, and we trust that the FIA will react in the right way," Kolles said.
