I have "shut up" my critics - Frankie Gavin

Frankie Gavin insists his 2009 form has "shut up" his doubters, and that he will be fighting for titles this year. The 24-year-old light welterweight turned professional in October 2008 after signing with Frank Warren Promotions.
"I have improved so much in the last year in terms of power and moving my head," he told BBC West Midlands. "There were some critics asking if I had the power and now I am shutting them up. I've had a really good 2009."
Gavin went unbeaten last year, although he had to go into the final round to defeat France's Samir Tergaoui in December. "He was a really tough, durable fighter and you need someone who's going to take you the [full] rounds," Gavin said. "I really would've struggled against him if I'd faced him on my debut."
Ever since his first professional fight Gavin has been mooted as a potential world champion - and the opportunity to fight for a belt is imminent, according to the fighter.
"I've been told I'm going to be fighting for titles this year - that's what I want," he said. His next contest is against Irishman Peter McDonagh on February 13 at Wembley Arena.
