Horner thinks Red Bull has edge for 2014
Christian Horner believes Red Bull has already stolen a march on the likes of Ferrari and Mercedes for 2014.
After four consecutive drivers' and constructors' titles for Sebastian Vettel and Red Bull, the new regulations in 2014 give the chasing teams an opportunity to seriously challenge its recent dominance.
While new engine regulations leave an aspect of Red Bull's competitiveness next season out of its hands, Horner says the way the second half of the season has panned out meant Adrian Newey was able to focus on building next year's car while other teams were still battling for final championship positions.
"Of course we've been pushing the boundaries and Adrian is never famous for starting next year's car early," Horner said. "That's exactly the same case for RB10, but thankfully we managed to secure this championship reasonably early which has enabled all the focus to go on to RB10 whilst obviously Ferrari and Mercedes have been battling each other for the runner-up position."
The first pre-season test of 2014 takes place at Jerez in Spain, beginning on January 27.
