Sebastian Vettel was initially going to be allowed to test for Ferrari next week in Abu Dhabi until his current Red Bull team became worried he might take secrets with him.

After six years at the Red Bull team, and most of his junior career being backed by the energy drinks company, Vettel will move to Ferrari in 2015. He said he had planned to make his debut for his new team at the post-race test in Abu Dhabi but Red Bull had second thoughts.

"It's a shame because, initially, I was allowed, then I wasn't," he said. "It is what it is but, all of a sudden, something changed. As far as I understand, the technical people were panicking a little bit, afraid that I would take some secrets."

When it was put to Vettel that he would bring the same knowledge in winter testing next year, he added: "Yeah, that's what I said."
