Mark Webber has praised the design of the new Buddh International Circuit ahead of the Indian Grand Prix.

The Hermann Tilke-designed track has been purpose built for the event and will host its first race this weekend. With a number of elevation changes as well as a high average speed it has so far been well received, and Webber said that the ever-changing width of the track is a further test to the drivers.

"The track's good, really good," Webber said. "They've been very creative with it, and it's got a good mixture of corners. What I like about it is the different width of it in areas, that's really good to test us, not to just have a fixed width all the way round the track. Why not have the track changing in width a little bit here and there? I think it's good for us, gives us more options, even when you're not racing you've got to be on top of things there in terms of the line, so it's good."

With the track designed to aid overtaking, Webber said it should work as long as the first two days of running cleans up the track significantly.

"The only concern is that it's a pretty dusty venue at this point. That will improve drastically as we run, purely because there's not going to be much rain around which is good. So we'll get decent grip, a decent line, a modern line but as I say we'll see what it's like on Sunday really, because we won't be racing before then."

Webber also said that the elevation changes would be a challenge for the drivers, and highlighted turn three as the best example of innovative track design.

"Turn three is the most extreme one; in terms of very very wide, you've got a steep climb going in and then a table top at the top, flattening out, so not far off a motocross track if it was dirt! But, awesome. I think it's great; to be that creative, why not? I don't know how awesome the drainage would be if it rained coming down the hill there, but it's good. We're in India so hopefully it doesn't rain too often here and you can take those sorts of risks on track design."
