Red Bull's head of race engineering Ian Morgan says that he has been "very impressed" with Jean-Eric Vergne during the Young Driver Test in Abu Dhabi.

Vergne set the fastest time of every session of the test as he drove for Red Bull for all three days. Having only driven in two practice sessions for Toro Rosso prior to this week, one of which was in the wet of Korea, it was Vergne's first sustained spell in a Formula One car. Although Red Bull didn't have the smoothest final day as Vergne was only able to complete 46 laps, Morgan said that he had been faultless.

"Looking to Jean-Eric, I must say I have been very impressed with him during this test," Morgan said. "He's not really been in our car for any length of time before this week and he hasn't made a single mistake. He's good at taking in information and using it as required and he's been consistent and controlled. He was able to do as we ask and put in a lap time whenever we needed - he's done a good job."

Vergne is now set to drive for Toro Rosso in FP1 at the final round of the season in Brazil as both he and Daniel Ricciardo stake their claims for a race seat with the team in 2012.
