Nico Hulkenberg says a decision on his future should be finalised in the next "one, two or three weeks".

Having been strongly linked with a move to Ferrari, Hulkenberg is now one of the favourites for the vacant seat at Lotus after Kimi Raikkonen took the Ferrari drive for 2014. Remaining at Sauber - which is already said it plans on running Sergey Sirotkin next season - looks unlikely, and when asked when he expected his future to be decided, Hulkenberg replied: "Soon … one, two, three weeks.

"These things take time. You speak to each other, you see what you come up with together and it's the usual talks. There's no issues or nothing major, but like I said these things are a bit time consuming to finalise everything.

"I'm fairly confident but I also learned my lesson in 2010; take nothing for granted!"

Focusing on the remainder of this season, Hulkenberg believes Sauber can be fighting for points at every race after scoring points at each of the last two grands prix.

"I'd like to think [recent form will continue] and I'm fairly confident that for the remaining six races we can keep this level. I think we have the performance to be there just in or around the top ten and can challenge for more points from here onwards."
