Sebastian Vettel wants Red Bull to use his Singapore Grand Prix victory to build momentum in the championship battle.

Having failed to finish in Italy, Vettel dropped down to fourth in the championship standings but his win in Singapore saw him take ten points out of Fernando Alonso's lead and move him back in to second place. With Alonso consistently scoring points, Vettel says he is now aiming for a run of races when he outscores his rivals.

"I think it's an incredible season for all of us; approaching the weekend not knowing what's going to happen," Vettel said. "Everything can happen in the race so it's a lot of fun for us, for the people to watch, but I think we have a lot of races left. The car seems to be competitive and we've just got to use the momentum and keep pushing in the next couple of races to make sure we finish ahead of those guys."

Vettel also said that he was relieved to win such a long, tough race and dedicated his victory to the late Professor Sid Watkins.

"I think it's one of the toughest races of the year to be honest. It's very long - we did the full two hours - the circuit is a killer, there's so many bumps, there's no space for mistakes and the race just seems to go on forever. Obviously we benefitted a little bit from Lewis' failure, which I could see a couple of laps before that he lost oil.

"Generally we had a very strong pace all weekend and a good start which got us in to second and in the hunt. The pace was there, so I'm just incredibly happy and proud because this is such a tough race. So, proud to win it and I'd like to dedicate it to one very special man; Mr Sid Watkins, who passed away. He will be remembered for sure, I think he's one of the biggest reasons why we can go out on a circuit like this, enjoy ourselves and be reasonably safe. He pushed the boundaries in terms of safety for all of us, so a big thank you."
