England boss Martin Johnson has been handed a major boost prior to their make-or-break Six Nations clash against France on February 26, with Lewis Moody, Tom Croft and Andrew Sheridan all poised to make their returns from injury this weekend.

England skipper Moody has been included on the Bath bench for their Aviva Premiership showdown with Northampton on Saturday, five weeks after he suffered a knee ligament injury.

In his absence, Mike Tindall has captained England to victories over Wales and Italy, while Stade Francais' James Haskell has worn the No.7 jersey.

In another lift to Johnson's back-row stocks, Croft has also been handed a spot among the replacements for Leicester's meeting with Wasps at Welford Road.

The British & Irish Lion has been out of action since breaking his shoulder in England's November loss to South Africa, with nerve damage slowing his return to full fitness.

Sheridan, who missed last weekend's win over the Azzurri with a back injury, has his chance to stake a claim for a recall in place of debutant Alex Corbisiero after being named in Sale's front-row for their trip to face Harlequins at the Twickenham Stoop.
