Mark Webber is expecting a competitive weekend at the Spanish Grand Prix after the top three in practice were split by less than a tenth of a second.

Webber was third fastest, just 0.083s off team-mate Sebastian Vettel and 0.066s off Fernando Alonso in second. Webber is confident he got a good time out of the tyres before settling into longer runs.

"It looks reasonably tight," he said. "I had a good time on fresh tyres and enjoyed it and then we go out and drive around and save tyres. That's the less enjoyable part of the day but that's what we've got to do. We couldn't have got much more out of today in terms of info considering the first session we were scrapping around in the weather. Overall it was a good day for us and we will find out on Sunday."

Webber added that he is confident he has a good set-up direction for the rest of the weekend.

"I think we are pretty much settled for the race and for tomorrow. Qualifying is important but it's not everything because the race comes on Sunday."
