Red Bull team principal Christian Horner does not think it is a given that his cars will be quick at this weekend's Spanish Grand Prix.

Red Bull comes to Barcelona as championship leaders and has won the past two races at the circuit, which rewards cars capable of generating plenty of efficient downforce. But despite his team's track record at the Circuit de Catalunya, Horner suspects tyre management will be the overriding factor for success this weekend.

"The tyres are the key performance factor and extracting the most out of the tyres is crucial at the moment," he said. "So I don't think it's taken for granted that this will be a circuit that automatically suits our car. I think we'll have some idea on Friday and a much better idea after Saturday."

But Horner still thinks the Spanish Grand Prix will provide an interesting barometer of who has a good chassis this year.

"Barcelona is always a good test venue from a chassis point of view," he added. "That's why we come here during the winter. I think that it will be very interesting to see, in the conditions and so on, who's made a step forward and who's managing the tyres at the end of the day."
