Laura Robson's fantastic run of form has continued with a three-set win over Shuai Peng in the quarter finals of the Guangzhou Open.

Robson burst onto the senior scene in a major way with her win over Kim Cjijsters at the US Open, which helped propel her into the top 75 in the world. The big-hitting Brit announced herself on the Asian circuit with a win over No. 2 seed Jie Zheng in the previous round.

She carried that momentum into the quarter-final with Peng as, after saving a break point in the opening game, she threatened to blow her opponent off the court. Robson raced into a 5-1 lead and looked set to close out the first set in rapid fashion, but a series of mistakes allowed Peng back into the match.

Peng took four games on the spin but Robson arrested the slide by breaking for 6-5 and promptly serving out to move ahead.

Robson broke at start of second, but Peng hit back in the sixth game and went on to claim a tight second.

But Robson is a player at the top of her game at present and she powered into a 5-1 lead in the third set and unlike the first, she closed out the match on her serve for a 7-5 5-7 6-2 win.

Robson will meet Sorana Cirstea in the semi-finals after the No. 3 seed eased to a 6-4 6-3 win over Alize Cornet.

The second semi-final will be between Ursula Radwanska and Hsieh Su-wei.
