Novak Djokovic secured his fourth title of the season as he defeated Jo-Wilfried Tsonga to win the China Open.

The top seed maintained his unbeaten record in Beijing as he claimed a 7-6(4) 6-2 victory to regain the title he won in 2009 and 2010.

After neither player took their chances in the opening set, Djokovic profited from three unforced errors from Tsonga to take control of the tiebreak.

The world No. 2 carried his momentum into the second set as he grabbed an early break to tighten his grip, outclassing Tsonga as he closed out the victory to boost his hopes of ending the year as world No. 1 for a second successive season.

Djokovic, who did not play in Beijing last year, picked up his 32nd career title, and 500 ranking points to close the gap on world No. 1 Roger Federer.

Tsonga, meanwhile, remains firmly in contention to qualify for the year-ending ATP World Tour Finals in London.
