Andy Murray will begin his Australian Open preparations against the recently retired Andy Roddick at the Miami Tennis Cup this weekend.

Murray and former world No. 1 Roddick are both in action at the inaugural exhibition tournament, where they will go head-to-head on Saturday.

John Isner joins Nicolas Almagro, Juan Carlos Ferrero and Alejandro Falla in the six-man event at Crandon Park, while for Murray it will be a short trip from his training base in Miami.

"It is a very, very tough field," Isner said. "We are all looking for competition before the Australian Open, and there is no better practice than matches against good players."

"He's been spending a lot of time on his golf game," Isner said of fellow American Roddick, who announced his retirement at the US Open. "He has the luxury of being able to travel and play golf, so he's hooked now.

"I'm not sure how much tennis he's played since his retirement, but I'm sure he'll still play good matches here. He still knows how to hit a ball."
