The shocks at AEGON Championship continued, as No. 1 seed Rafael Nadal was sent spinning out 7-6(5) 6-4 by Feliciano Lopez.

The world No. 1 is looking to make the transition from clay to grass and found Lopez too tough to handle and he followed Andy Murray out of the tournament.

The first set went all the way to the breaker. Nadal made the error, sending a smash into the net at 5-4 down to hand the set to Lopez.

Nadal came out with a sense of purpose at the start of the second set, twice holding to love, but Lopez kept chipping away and secured a break when Nadal threw a forehand into the tramlines.

Nadal broke back immediately, but never looked comfortable and a further break from Lopez set him up for the win and he held serve to book his place in the semi-finals.

"I feel great," Lopez told Eurosport. "You have to be happy when you beat the No. 1 player in the world. I am looking forward to playing tomorrow, I am playing great tennis at the moment.

"I think I served well today, I was aggressive. You have to do that bit extra to beat Rafa and I did that.

"Being a left hander might help as he normally plays crosscourt to the opponent so he had to change that."

Mardy Fish backed up his win over Andy Murray earlier in the day with a fine 6-4 6-4 win over Michael Llodra. Fish was solid behind his own serve, producing a string of crisp volleys, and he was not hard pressed to wrap up victory in little over an hour and he will now meet Lopez in the last four.

Fellow American Sam Querrey also made it through as he continued his fine grass-court form with an impressive 6-3 7-5 win over Xavier Malisse. He will take on Rainer Schuettler next. The German looked in complete control of his game as he eliminated the dangerous Dudi Sela 7-5 6-4.

At the Gerry Weber Open in Halle, World No. 2 Roger Federer produced a dominant display to take out home favourite Philipp Kohlschreiber in straight sets.

The six-time Wimbledon champion served 12 aces and broke his opponent twice to seal a 7-5 6-3 win. Federer will face Philipp Petzschner next after he eased into the semi-finals with a 6-4 6-3 win over Lukas Lacko.

Lleyton Hewitt continued his push towards full fitness and form with a dominant 7-6(0) 6-1 win over Andreas Beck, while Benjamin Becker got the better of his battle with fellow German Mischa Zverev.
