Former British No. 1 Greg Rusedski is backing 2002 Wimbledon champion Lleyton Hewitt to cause the first shock in the men's draw at this year's tournament by knocking out world No. 3 Novak Djokovic.

The Australian has enjoyed somewhat of a renaissance since undergoing knee and hip surgery in January and looked sharp as he dissected Gael Monfils in three sets to reach the fourth round.

The former World No. 1 won his first title of the season at Halle at the start of the month, beating Roger Federer in the final, and Rusedski is tipping Hewitt to take out Djokovic, who has won three of the four past meetings between the pair.

"Lleyton is the Jimmy Connors of modern tennis," Rusedski said in his column in the Daily Mirror. "He scraps and fights for every single point and never gives an inch. That is why I reckon he will cause the first big shock in the men's competition by beating No.3 seed Djokovic today.

"I reckon Hewitt against Djokovic is match of the day. I remember playing the Aussie and he was always such a tough opponent. But his form this year is amazing after undergoing surgery on his hips and his ankle.

"People questioned whether he would ever come back but, at the grand old age of 29, but he pushed Rafael Nadal hard in Paris and then beat Roger Federer on grass for only the second time in seven years to win the pre-Wimbleon tournament at Halle.

"He is great on grass - he has won eight titles on the surface and won more matches on it than even Federer - and I expect him to win in four or five sets."

The winner will meet last year's beaten finalist Andy Roddick - provided he makes it past the unseeded Lu Yen-hsun, who he has beaten in their previous three meetings.
